Lifelong learning is a vital part of the Christian journey. Here at DPC, along with more traditional Bible study-based opportunities, there are conversations and workshops to engage us with issues like justice, our denominational tradition, spiritual formation and practices and more.
This is a great way to get to know members of our faith community personally, and not just as “that person who always sits in that pew” during worship.
Adult Christian Education takes place in the parlor by the Fellowship Hall, beginning at 9:45am and runs for an hour.
These weekly classes and discussions typically take the form of “short topics”, which follow a curriculum that spans 3 to 6 weeks. A broad variety of themes and topics are covered in the course of a year. We aim for open and engaging facilitated conversations that are designed to apply Biblical learning to our everyday experiences as individuals and as a church community. Whatever your faith background or your educational experience, your voice matters as we learn and grow together.
Tuesday Lunch Break Bible Study
This gathering is ideal if you work or live downtown. We meeting in the parlor by the Fellowship Hall at noon and begin with a brief time of sharing and prayer based on your joys and concerns.
Pastor Mike then guides the group through the main Bible passage from the lectionary that he will use for our upcoming Sunday service – typically digging down into the history of the text and sharing questions he is exploring (or wrestling with) in his sermon preparation.
Bring your lunch and your hunger to learn in conversation.
New to Presbyterianism?
Firstly, and most importantly, Welcome!
We understand it can be both exciting and strange to find yourself in a new worshiping community. Every denomination and congregation has its own specific expressions of Christianity. At DPC you’ll find many people whose faith journey began in other denominations and worship traditions. There are many ways for you to get involved in the life of our congregation and we are delighted you are here.
If you are new to The PC(USA), or feel called to become a member at DPC, contact Pastor Mike Wilson for resources and guidance to fit your circumstance and experience. There are opportunities during the year for you to gather in a small group with Pastor Mike and fellow newcomers to explore and discuss the Christian faith, the distinctive tenets of the Presbyterian tradition and your own journey.
