How are we reconciled with God through the death and resurrection of Jesus? What was accomplished on the cross? Those are some of the questions that our doctrine of atonement seeks to answer. And it is not enough – and rather unsatisfactory – to say simply, “Jesus died for our sins.”
The broad and long Christian tradition has explored many understandings of atonement and over three Sundays; Pastor Mike will introduce some of them, explore their origins, strengths and weaknesses, and moderate conversations around how they resonate with us personally.
The conversations will begin at 9:45 on Sundays March 17, 31 and April 7 (no class on March 24) in Parlor 2.
