Australian soprano, Bethany Hill, will present a works composed by DPCs current composer-in-residence. Joining in the concert is Nina Cardona as a narrator and Chris Szalaj, cellist.
Ms. Hill is described as “impressive…a confident, powerful soprano” by Bachtrack, Bethany is a versatile Australian soprano. A Graduate with Honours from the Elder Conservatorium of Music, Bethany is comfortable as a soloist on both the concert and operatic stages. She is currently a principal artist for the State Opera of South Australia, having made her debut in 2018 as Dido in Purcell’s Dido & Aeneas. She regularly appears as an artist in the Adelaide Festival of Arts, including Barry Kosky’s adaptation of Handel’s Saul (Glyndebourne’s touring production), and Can You Hear Colour? – an original opera for children, which she also co-wrote.
Bethany has performed with Ludovico’s Band (Melbourne Recital Centre, 2018) and The Song Company (Sydney Opera House, 2019). In 2017 Bethany performed Bach Cantatas under the baton of Masaaki Suzuki, with Juilliard 415, for the Nelson Bach Residency in New Zealand.
Ms. Hill’s upcoming professional engagements include Schoenberg’s Ewartung, Kate Pinkerton in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, Pitti-Sing in Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Mikado, and as a returning soloist for the Adelaide Festival.
