It’s a centennial celebration as The Downtown Presbyterian Church hosts its 100th Waffle Shop! Mark your calendar for Thursday, December 5th from 11a.m. to 2 p.m.! There’s a lot to love about this annual tradition!
Your ticket will include waffles, a choice of Hattie B’s Hot Chicken (hot or not), Puckett’s country bacon, or turkey hash made from the original Waffle Shop recipe. Attendees can sip on Frothy Monkey coffee or spiced tea while enjoying the live music of Les Kerr and the Bayou Band. Along with the meal, you’ll have access to premium shopping opportunities with the holiday gift shop and bake sale. You can also bid on silent auction items like local hotel stays, handcrafted artwork, gift cards to downtown restaurants, and much more. We have extended this year’s event to 2 p.m. so you have more time to shop, eat, and enjoy the Christmas festivities.
An extra special event has been added this year. Dr. William Taylor, DPC’s Director of Music, will give a short organ recital. There will even be an opportunity to join in singing a few Christmas carols! In addition to the music, Jim Hoobler, retired curator for the TN State Museum and church historian, will offer guided tours of the church’s sanctuary – a national Egyptian Revival landmark.
Tickets will be $15.00 in advance and $20.00 at the door beginning November 1st. Free parking will be available at the Nissan Stadium! Old Town Trolley will provide complimentary shuttle service from there to the church.
All proceeds from Waffle Shop are used to fund DPC’s Fish & Loaves Meal Ministry. This festive fundraiser enables the church to continue providing a free meal and essentials each Saturday morning.
Don’t miss the rare opportunity to attend a centennial celebration while supporting a great cause!
