Rev. Mike Wilson arrived in Nashville in the summer of 2012 from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he was the pastor of The First Presbyterian Church of Edgewood. Before that he served a yoke of three churches in Leechburg and Freeport, Penn., just north and east of Pittsburgh. He came to Nashville when his wife, Rev. Dr. Mary Louise McCullough, was called as Pastor of Nashville's Second Presbyterian Church. Mary Louise was pastor of Sixth Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh. After spending six months on the pulpit supply circuit, filling in at eight churches in Middle Tennessee, Mike served for about a year as interim pastor at Harpeth Presbyterian Church in Brentwood. His tenure at Downtown Church began on June 1, 2014.
Mike is originally from Lake Placid, New York, but Tennessee is his sixth state of residence. Mike and Mary Louise are both second career pastors; they met and married while students at San Francisco Theological Seminary. Prior to ministry Mike worked for a direct mail list company in Princeton, New Jersey, doing specialized computer work. He’s also a musician (drummer) with an undergraduate degree from the Lawrence Conservatory of Music (part of Lawrence University) in Appleton, Wisconsin. Because he's now a pastor in Music City, he's humbled to discover that he's only the third best drummer in his church. Mike's stepson and Mary Louise's son is Evan Coakley, who is married to Rebekah; they live in La Vergne, TN. Hazel the wiener dog lives with Mike and Mary Louise in Bellevue.
