Our hearts are heavy with the distressing news that our friend Amy Williams was fatally shot in East Nashville on Saturday, June 17, 2017. Amy was a much loved former DPC member and we remember her with deep fondness and gratitude.
Amy moved from Alabama to Nashville and joined DPC while she was a graduate student at Vanderbilt University, studying to become a nurse practitioner. Amy was an active DPC member and served as a children’s Sunday School instructor. She brought creativity, joy and music to the classes. The children loved her songs, especially “Rise and Shine”. Later, she was involved in the adult Sunday School classes.
During her time at DPC, she was married to Herb Williams, an artist, who was also active in our community. We ask for prayers for Herb and Amy’s two children, Clay and Maggie Williams, her family, and especially her sister who was with her that fateful evening.
We love and miss Amy and we give thanks for the positive things she did for our community. We will lift up prayers for Amy and her family in our 11am Worship Service on Sunday, 25 June.
Memorial details are included as follows in Amy’s obituary in The Tennessean:
A celebration of her life will be held in Nashville on Friday, June 23 at 11 am at Eastwood Christian Church at 1601 Eastland Avenue. A reception will follow — please think of stories about Amy to share at this gathering.
The family requests no flowers (allergies) and would like for memorial donations to go to Walden’s Puddle Animal Rehabilitation Center at www.waldenspuddle.org, Camp McDowell at www.campmcdowell.com, or Thistle Farms at www.thistlefarms.org
